LED optics

Plastic LED optics manufacturer in the UK. LED illumination

  • 1We manufacture custom primary optical systems of LEDs, with integrated lenses and required beam angles, as well as secondary optical systems in the form of lenses, reflectors and diffusers, that enhance beam and colour uniformity of the light.
  • 2Plastic LED lighting optics can be produced for any imaginable lighting applications, in an abundance of complex shapes and colours.
  • 3We provide a full production cycle, starting with optical engineering services from our Germany-based sister company, and ending with automated packaging of manufactured batches. You can learn more about the polymer optics we produce here , and you can check all our services here.

Polymermedics is capable of producing precise, compact and energy efficient plastic LED optics

Advantages of polymer LED illumination

  • 1Low-cost production. Plastic LED optics will noticeably lower your costs;
  • 2Design freedom. Nearly every design can be achieved, and we can assist in making it happen;
  • 3Manufacturing precision. Achievable accuracy is in the submicron area;
  • 4Disposable production. High volume production available without any quality loss;
  • 4Extremely long service life. Five times longer than traditional lighting.
  • 5Low weight. Plastic optics is much lighter than glass, which also contributes to their break resistance.

We will help you choose the correct type of LED optics for your application. Below you can find the main types of LED optics we produce:

  • 1TIR optics. Total Internal Reflection optics refers to optics that is mostly symmetrical in form and provides a narrow-beam distribution, due to internal reflection in the plastic part surrounding the collimator lens. For example, it can be used for stadium illumination;
  • 2Reflectors. Reflectors have the same principle as TIR optics, but the distributed light doesn’t partially reflect off of the surface of the plastic part that surrounds the lens, creating a wider distribution. This kind of wide light-distribution is fit for applications such as roadway illumination;
  • 3Light guides. Light guides are typically used when a light beam needs to be homogenized and, in doing so, either illuminate a bigger surface or transport the light to a different spot. Applicable in automotive lighting, high-end architectural applications and much more;
  • 4Freeform optics. Freeform LED optics has at least one freeform surface that directs light to ellipsoid beams, creating non-symmetrical illumination. Can be used for outdoor lighting;
  • 5Hybrid optics. Hybrid optics typically refers to multiple lens system designs. For example, it could be a combination of spherical and aspherical lenses in one product. Among other applications, this type of optics can be found in aerospace lighting.

We can produce plastic LED optics with a lateral, circular, square or any other type of light distribution in any required angle.
