New defibrillator at SARFC thanks to polymermedics

At Polymermedics we are always happy to invest in making the world around us safer. That’s why we have sponsored a new defibrillator at St Austell Rugby Club’s Tregorrick Park sports complex, helping protect players, supporters and gym-goers by allowing for rapid aid in the event of a heart attack.

“In cases of cardiac arrest, every minute spent without defibrillation or CPR reduces  survival chances by 10%”

The portable defibrillator is housed in Saints Gym, making it easily accessible for the rugby ground, tennis courts and gym facilities alike. All gym and clubhouse staff have been trained to use the portable unit which will be able to cover the whole site, which in addition to the gym and rugby club also features tennis courts and local running club meetings. In cases of cardiac arrest, every minute without defibrillation or CPR reduces survival chances by 10%, so having an on-site defibrillator could potentially be the difference between life and death.

“Being able to help our local community is something we’re always proud to do”

SARFC supporters’ chair Stuart Widger said: “We’re open seven days a week, from kids’ rugby to pensioners coming to enjoy the sport. With so many people using our facilities, it’s really important that everyone is protected.”

It’s a very significant cause and being able to help our local community is something we’re always proud to do. Cardiac arrests can occur at any age and at any moment; the faster the help is given, the more chances one has for survival and a fast recovery. If this device can help to save even one life, then the money was well spent.
